Decision support
OPTARUS provides open-source analytical assessments intended to improve situational understanding and support professional decision-making. Publications express analytical judgements based on the information reasonably available at the stated reporting cut-off.
Not professional or operational advice
It does not replace official maritime warnings, flag-state or coastal-state directions, competent security advice, legal advice, insurer requirements, classification rules, company procedures or a vessel master's judgement.
Open-source limitations
Sources may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, deliberately deceptive or unavailable. Translation, geolocation, imagery interpretation and attribution can carry uncertainty. A cited report confirms what the source reported; it does not automatically confirm the underlying claim.
Confidence language and evidential caveats should be read with the judgement. No assessment guarantees that an event will or will not occur.
Time sensitivity
Maritime and regional risk can change quickly. Each publication is current only to its stated reporting cut-off. Later events, official warnings or new evidence may supersede it. Archive material should not be treated as a current threat picture.
Operational responsibility
Users remain responsible for their own due diligence, legal obligations, risk appetite and decisions. Before acting, users should obtain current information from relevant authorities and appropriately qualified advisers.
Third-party material and links
References or links do not imply endorsement. OPTARUS does not control third-party availability, accuracy, security or privacy practices. Copyright in cited third-party material remains with its respective owner.
Liability boundary
OPTARUS assessments are one input to a user's own professional judgement and due diligence, not a guarantee of outcome. Any contractual limitation of liability will be stated in the terms applying to the service and will operate only to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Mandatory consumer rights are unaffected.
